Today machine occupies more and more important position in our life. We use machine to wash our clothes, cook our dinner or go on a journey. We depend on the machine for our work, entertainment and communication. The majority of people in the city seem to be inseparable from the machine, so that they couldn’t imagine how their life would be without machine. Machine operates like hands, walks like feet, calculates and memorizes like a brain. At the same time people are gradually losing their ability to survival independently. So more and more people are worried about this situation. Some of them even think that one day the machine will take over all the jobs presently done by mankind ,and thus replace human beings as the King of the Earth. Well, in my opinion, it will never happen in the furue.

 

First of all, though the machine could complete some work instead of man, even some of which man couldn’t, machine will never accomplish all the works in some fields, such as literature, music and painting. As we all know the art need not only skills but also passions. Happy or angry, sad or joyous, machine could never have such emotions as human being. Machine could put words, colors and muscial notes together according to the programme prepared by man, but machine could never understand the meaning behind them. So machine couldn’t create the heart-sharking works which let audiences resonate.

 

Secondly, the work completed by the machine is totally based on human wisdom. The machine works according to the programme made by human being and reachs some specific achievement under man’s instruction. Machine can make consumer goods but it can not consume. Machine can transmit information, but it can not produce information. Machine can calculate and memorize, but it can not create. Imagination and creation are man’s special abilities. Even the machine can replace mankind to accomplish lots of work but all of them depend on man’s design and control.

 

The most important is that it’s unnecessary for machine to replace human being. Endless greedy is man’s characteristic. Different from any other living things on the earth, man’s consumption is not only for the need of live but more for the enjoyment. In order to get the limited resources, the development of human being takes sacrifices of other species and other race’s development as the price. However, machine is not living being. There is no difference between survival or death. Machine does not have the ability of reproduction. Machine does not have man’s characteristic of greedy, aggression and exclusiveness. Its survival does not take the exclusive from other species’ survival as a price. There is no reason for man’s panic of being replaced by machine.

 

In summary, as the development of the science and technology, the machine will take more and more important place in man’s life. But they will only push the development of human culture rather than replacing human being.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

当前，在人类活动中，机器越来越占据重要地位。人们依赖机器洗衣、做饭和出行，依赖机器工作、娱乐和交流信息。绝大多数城市居民的生活已经变得和机器密不可分，以至于人们无法想象没有机器的日子将会怎样。机器代替了人手去操作，代替了人脚去行走，甚至代替了人脑去计算和记忆，与此同时，人类的独立生存能力也在逐渐丧失。因此，越来越多的人对此感到忧虑，其中有一些人甚至认为one day the machine will take over all the jobs presently done by mankind ,and thus replace human beings as the King of the Earth. 对此，我认为，机器不可能替代人类完成所有工作，更不可能取代人类成为地球之王。

首先，尽管机器能够代替人类完成某些工作，甚至完成某些人类无法完成的工作，但有一些领域的工作是机器永远无法完成的，比如文学、音乐和美术。关于艺术，不仅需要技巧，更需要情感。而喜怒哀乐，正是机器永远不可能具备的东西。机器可以根据人类编制的程序，按照艺术的规律，把文字、色彩和音符组合在一起，但永远无法理解它们所代表的深层含意，因此无法创作出震撼人心的作品，让欣赏者产生共鸣。

其次，从根本上来说，机器完成的工作，仍旧是人类智慧的结果。机器按照人类编制的程序运行，依据人类的指令，达成特定的目标。机器制造消费品，但是机器本身并不消费。机器可以传递信息，但机器本身并不产生信息。机器可以计算和记忆，但是机器无法创新。想象力和创造力，是人类独特的能力。既使机器能够代替人类完成很多工作，也是在人类的设计和控制下完成的。

最重要的是，机器没有取代人类的必要。无止境的贪婪是人类的特性。与地球上的其它生物不同，人类的消耗并非仅为了满足生存的必要，更多的是为了享乐。为了占据有限的资源，人类的发展是以牺牲其它物种和其它种族的发展为代价的。然而，机器并非生命体，没有生存与死亡的区别，也没有繁衍后代的本能。机器不具有人类贪婪、侵略和排他的本性，它的生存也不以排斥其它物种的生存为代价。人类对被机器取代的恐慌，是完全没有道理的。

综上所述，尽管随着科技的发展，机器在人类的生活中将占据越来越重要的地位，但是机器将只会促进人类文明的发展，而不会取代人类。
